Your Garden Can Save the Lake!
A Local Approach to Stormwater
Have you ever considered where the rain goes after it hits your property? Stormwater runoff—the water that flows from roofs, driveways, and lawns—often carries pollutants directly into our local lakes and waterways. This can have a significant impact on water quality and aquatic habitats.
There are ways to address this issue at a residential level. Local landscape designer Kat Holder will introduce practical methods for mitigating stormwater runoff from your own home and land on September 23, 6 to 7 pm. Register here.
Rain Gardens and Native Plants: A Solution
Kat’s presentation will focus on the role of thoughtful landscape design in improving water quality. You will learn about the benefits of creating rain gardens, which are designed to capture and filter runoff before it can enter critical waterways. The session will also highlight the use of native plants, explaining how they help trap sediment and nutrients. This is a practical, residential-scale approach to protecting our local environment.
Final Session of the 2025 Gardening Lecture Series
This lecture concludes our 2025 Gardening Lecture Series. The series was made possible by the support of the Friends of the Moultonborough Library, John Moulton of Moulton Farm, the UNH Extension Program and the NH Health Alliance.
We look forward to seeing you at the library to learn how we can all contribute to a healthier environment.
