Readers’ Advisory
We want to help you find great books!
Our library staff always has good recommendations to share when you drop by the circulation desk, and we have a large display of the most recent print purchases for you to browse.
The library catalog is a great place to look.
To log in to the library catalog, you will need your 14-digit library barcode number (no spaces.) The PIN/password is typically your last name all in lowercase.
We even have a library app!
Find the Aspen LiDA app on your favorite app store and download to keep track of the books you have out, make lists with books you want to read, and access Libby or Hoopla (for Moultonborough residents only.)
The library subscribes to Book Page, a monthly selection guide for new books. They also have some of the same features online if you can’t wait to see some of the content. Otherwise, pop in the library and get your copy today.

On the Web
Here are some websites that can help you find your next great read. You may need to create a user account to access some of them.

Book Riot is the largest independent literary website in North America, dedicated to making book and reading discussions as diverse as readers themselves. It’s a go-to source for a wide range of content, including reviews, book news, reading recommendations, and commentary on literary and publishing trends across all genres.

Fantastic Fiction is our go-to website used for tracking the complete works of bestselling fiction authors. It lists all titles within a series in the correct reading order, and provides updates on authors’ latest and upcoming releases, making it an essential resource for genre fiction readers.

Goodreads is the world’s largest social network for readers. It allows you to easily track, rate, and review the books you read, see what your friends and favorite authors are enjoying, join book discussions, and get personalized recommendations to discover your next great read.

LibraryThing is a free, collaborative online service that allows users to catalog their books, movies, and music using professional, library-quality data sources. It functions as both a personal collection management tool and a large social network for book lovers, connecting people with similar reading interests and generating recommendations based on the collective libraries of its millions of members.

NoveList is a powerful reader’s advisory database that functions as a recommendation engine for books. It helps readers discover their next favorite read by providing in-depth information like read-alikes for books and authors, and by allowing users to search books by mood, tone, and writing style.

WhichBook offers a unique and fun way to find your next book by focusing on the reading experience you desire. Instead of searching by traditional categories, it allows you to manipulate a set of interactive sliders (like Funny/Serious, Happy/Sad, or Gentle/Violent) to specify the exact mood and emotion you want from a book, making it an excellent tool for breaking out of a reading rut.
