MOULTONBOROUGH PUBLIC LIBRARY 
SUBSTITUTE LIBRARY ASSISTANT
PART-TIME
NON-EXEMPT

Do you love connecting with people and have a passion for community service? Are you looking for a flexible, part-time role where you can make a real difference?

The Moultonborough Public Library is seeking a dedicated and reliable Substitute Library Assistant to join our team! You will be essential in ensuring our patrons continue to receive professional and courteous service, filling in for staff vacations and absences as needed.

Position Details

Location: Moultonborough Public Library
Classification: Part-time, Hourly, Non-Exempt
Hours: Irregular, on an as-needed basis. Shifts can range from 3 to 8 hours and include weekdays, evenings, and Saturdays.
Starting Wage: $15.50 – $16.50 per hour

Specific Duties: 

  • Circulation Desk Coverage: Your primary duty will be covering the front desk, checking materials in and out, placing reserves, and registering new patrons.
  • Patron Support: Assisting patrons in person, by phone, or via email with inquiries.
  • Technology Help: Providing basic assistance with computers, mobile devices, and internet applications.
  • Collection Maintenance: Shelving materials accurately and ensuring the collection remains organized and tidy.

Qualifications Required: 

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Excellent customer service skills and a proactive, positive public service orientation.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with a professional and courteous demeanor.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with computers, mobile devices, and internet applications.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and be self-motivated.
  • The ability to work a flexible, irregular schedule and fill in on short notice as needed.
  • A professional attitude and ability to handle confidential information appropriately.

Qualifications Preferred:

  • Previous experience working in a public library or a similar community organization.
  • A genuine love of reading!
