Celebrate #America250 with Revolutionary Crafts

As part of our celebration of the country’s 250th anniversary, we have a full year of craft classes planned. We are calling the series “Revolutionary Crafts” because all of them focus on crafts that Colonial and Revolutionary Era Americans – including Native Americans – would have practiced.
We start the year with a rag-braided coaster. Needle felting instructor Patsy Frasier explains that Colonial Americans reused old materials to make rugs to cover cold wooden floors. Nothing was wasted! There has been a resurgence in interest in traditional crafts, and with evolved techniques and modern materials, braiders today are not limited to rugs. Braiding strips of fabric can also make elegant handbags, practical baskets and other home décor. Register here for the class on January 20, 5 to 6:30 pm, to learn how to make a coaster from rags like Americans did 250 years ago!
A non-refundable materials fee of $20 is required to confirm your registration. Payment can be made at the library or via the secure online payment link that is listed on the registration form. Please note that registrations that have not been confirmed after 1 week will be moved to the waiting list.
