Description:
All Hands on Deck!

A memorable exploration of America's most recognized and still commissioned naval  vessel, the U.S.S. Constitution.

We'll take a look at the momentous decision, the politics of getting approval, and the plans to build the frigate class ship as one of a group of six that would form the nucleus of America's emerging navy.

In addition, explore with us the wide variety of assignments, several near escapes from destruction, and the penny collection campaign which cemented Old Ironsides’ place as a national treasure!

Our presenter, Brad Wolff, is a retired public school social studies teacher who spent a week at the U.S.S. Constitution as a member of a National Endowment for the Humanities study program. Brad brings with him avid interest in American History and is a former N.H. State Board of Education Social Studies Teacher of the Year.

Join the Moultonborough Recreation dept. for a bus trip and private tour of Old Ironsides in Charlestown, MA on 5/15.
